六月になってようやくましな天気になってきた。　
大抵、6月は庭仕事が忙しくなるから、いつもよりもちょっとだけ庭で過ごす時間が長くなるんじゃよ。
昼間が暑すぎる時には、夕方に作業する。
だって、夜は10時頃まで暗くならんからのう。

雑草はいつでも厄介なものじゃが、6月にはまた一層大変じゃ。
ホー(鍬）や、ミッドハンドルのホーを使って雑草と戦うことになる。

ハンギングバスケットをフロントドアに飾ったり、コンテナやウィンドウボックスも花を植えてやらんとな。

花壇には夏の花も追加植栽し、背丈の大きくなってきている花には支柱を立てることもせにゃならん。

また、春に花を咲かせた灌木類は、剪定する。

そしてそろそろ庭に水やりが必要な日も出てくる。雨水をためているから、ジョーロで水やりするんじゃよ。

野菜畑も、雑草がないように気を付けて、トマトはどんどん育ってくるから脇芽を取ることも忘れないようにせんとな。

既にレタスやラディッシュ、サラダ菜などは収穫している。
新ジャガも堀上げたから、暗い場所に置いておかないと。わしらは大抵、麻布でできた、ポテト袋に入れておくんじゃ。

June has arrived and finally we are getting some better weather. Usually June is a busy month in the garden so I will spend a little longer each day. If the weather is too hot then I can work in the evening because it doesn't get dark until 10:00.

Weeds are always a problem and get worse in June so I must use the hoe (I also have a mid handled mini hoe) regularly to keep down weeds.

I'll put my hanging baskets outside my front door and all the containers and window boxes outside.

I still have to plant quite a few of my summer bedding flowers.

I will also stake my tall plants.

The spring shrubs are almost over so I will be pruning them.

Watering the garden becomes necessary and we collect our water from the roof of the house. I always use a watering can.

In the vegetable garden I have to make sure the weeds are gone.

My tomoatoes are growing quickly and I have to regularly pinch out the side shoots.

I have started harvesting lettuces, radishes, other salad crops and first early potatoes need to be dug up and put in a dark place. We use potato sacks made of hemp.
