今日は、職場で一緒だったジェーンさんのフロントガーデンを訪ねて、彼女にインタビューしてみた。

ジェーンは、18年前に美しいBath市内の平屋に引っ越して以来、当時10代だった息子と一緒に、あまり手入れされていなかったフロントガーデンを手入れしてきた。

まず、庭を二分していた低い石の壁を取り払い、近くの石の採掘場に行って、大き目の素敵な石を見つけ、庭にロックガーデンを作り、ロックガーデンに似合うアルパインプランツを植えた。
それが今ではこんなに広がって、春や初夏には素敵な色に染まっている！

After moving into my bungalow in the beautiful city of Bath 18 years ago my teenage son and I 'created' the front garden which had been rather neglected. First we demolished a low stone wall which had divided the garden into two then went to the local stone quarry and came back with some lovely large stones which we used to build a rockery. This was duly planted with a selection of alpines which have now spread well and give lovely colour in Spring and early summer.

写真の通り、仕上げにはあまり大きくならない枯木や植物を植えた。
今では、あまり手間がかからない庭になった！
